New Smoking Bans for Victoria in 2017
On 1 August 2017 in the State of Victoria, the following antismoking bans will come into force in Victoria.
Smoking in outdoor dining areas will be banned throughout Victoria within two years, the State Government says.The Government said it would give businesses until the August 1, 2017 to prepare for the ban, which will cover all outdoor dining areas at restaurants, cafes, take-away shops and licensed premises. Smoking has been banned around Victorian schools, hospitals, courts and police stations since April 13 2015
Smokers caught lighting up within four metres of a building where the ban applies face an on-the-spot fine of $147.The ban also applies to kindergartens, childcare centres, hospitals and maternal child and welfare facilities
