Willpower versus Wantpower

Willpower versus WantPower and New Year’s Resolutions

What is Willpower versus Wantpower? Willpower involves putting off what you want in the short-term to get what you want in the long-term. It requires conscious effort and often a significant investment of emotional and cognitive resources. It involves resisting urges, fighting temptations, and employing different strategies to maintain control. It is a lot of hard work.
There have been many studies done on behaviour which suggest that willpower along is not enough to make a lasting change. According to U.S. News & World Report, the failure rate of New Year’s resolutions is said to be about 80 percent. Most lose their resolve by mid-February.
In hypnosis we can call willpower Wantpower. Want power can be described as wanting having a strong desire to attain a goal rather than needing to. We can enlist the help of your subconscious mind where your various programmes of behaviour and thinking are deeply lodged.
