Tax Hikes again

On 6 November 2013, the Government announced that it would proceed with implementation of four 12.5% tobacco excise increases. More tax hikes!

The first 12.5% increase commenced on 1 December 2013 and the remaining 12.5% increases will occur on 1 September 2014, 1 September 2015 and 1 September 2016, respectively.

This will see the costs of cigarettes increae by approximately 60% over the 4 year period.
